Mikaela Cowles JuddMikaela Cowles Judd here. So glad you’re joining me. Life is always more fun when it’s filled with amazing people. What’s this whole ‘photography’ thing about?

Capturing moments.

For me, that’s what it comes down to. That’s what I relish. It’s the snippets of life, the ones that are so heartbreakingly tender, so fiery hot – so unctuously moving you can’t help but smile or laugh or catch your breath for the wanting of a thing.

These are the moments I capture. They are the story. They are the bits you hold onto forever. They are why I pick up my camera – why I love to explore the world and get to know you with a lens in hand.

Why photography?

Because I do words. Because when I started my food blog, I needed pictures. And because I realized as much as I woke up each day with desire to write, I also found incredible joy in capturing moments through pictures.

My food blog is called Baguette Taste – Wonder Bread Budget. There I share snippets from my life and tasty recipes, if you’re in the mood for that kind of thing.

My business, Making Language Count, specializes in brand development and story management. We help small to medium size businesses develop their voice, communicate with customers, and increase their sales. We do so by telling stories through words and pictures.

What about all this engagement, wedding, and family stuff?

Yes. Engagements, weddings, and family shoots aren’t all that “businessy.” However, I’m not your classic businesswoman. In fact, I like to think of myself as a gal (with a generous dollop of lady for good measure).

I believe people come first. Love rules; and when in doubt, I think everyone should smile. I absolutely LOVE shooting weddings. I totally dig engagement shoots and watching the way two folks who love one another move in, giggle, and occasionally pinch their partner’s butts when they think no one’s looking.

And boudoir? Isn’t that just crazy?

Maybe. Probably. I’d like to think there’s always something a bit crazy about girls getting down with their sexy selves. But it’s more than that. Boudoir is about feeling empowered in your God-given beauty.

I’m not here to capture some trashy nonsense. (If that’s you’re thing, no judgment. I’m just not your gal.) I believe great boudoir photography is about showing curves, capturing smiles, and bringing that va va voom to a woman’s sense of self.

Do you do headshots?

You betchya! I also do surprise proposals, impromptu sunrise shoots, and special events.

Additional Tidbits About Me

I adore basil. Gerbera daisies are my favorite flower. Sunrise is the best. I’m a wreck without coffee. I like the feel of a real book in my hand, my husband’s hand resting on my back while I nap, and hot HOT showers.

I believe in big hugs, large portions, and dessert. I like poached eggs on just about anything, the sound of a basketball whipping through a net, and getting 10,000 steps on my FitBit.

I wear boots with my pearls. I dance in the rain. And, I’ve been known to laugh so hard I hyperventilate.

P.S. My lovely headshot was captured by my good friend Rick Takagi.
